ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Model United Nations or MUN for short is a simulation of the real-life UN, United Nations, where you take the place of a delegate of a country or an international organization. The aim of the council is to find a solution to the problems you'll be given as a topic before your conference just like in the real UN. You'll have the chance to draft resolutions and find a lasting solution to some important issues today like climate change, and mark the aim of the United Nations, that is to prevent conflicts and promote international cooperation. It's a forum for countries to express the views and make decisions together.

To do this there are numerous organs in the UN such as the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Human Resource Council, Lok Sabha and many more. In MUN you'll get a chance to try to be a part of these. Resolutions are at the heart of MUN they are a set of rules and guidelines that countries in the world generally follows about a whole range of things including human rights, carbon emissions, and war. MUN helps you pick up soft skills like research, communication, critical thinking and creativity. It also gives you a chance to experience hands on diplomacy, International Relations, Negotiation and Lobbying. Plus, If you like the opportunity to wear formal attire or feel you really need the practice, MUN is a great place to do exactly that. Whether for the committee session or for the delegate’s ball, MUN is a chance to not only feel smart but also look it.

LETTER FROM THE SECRETARIAT

Dear Delegates,
It is our distinct honor and pleasure to invite you to ऊMUNg: Minds In Motion, Model United Nations 2022 presented by InternWare- Internship Cell of IITM. ऊMUNg has been able to attract and bring together delegates from several colleges to participate at a great platform and engage in debate and negotiation, simulating and solving the biggest challenges facing our world today. In the last few years, we have been scathed by many unfortunate events, witnessing a deadly pandemic that resulted in a devastating loss of lives, natural calamities and climate change affecting vulnerable populations worldwide, increasing starvation rates around the globe, child abuse, a full-fledged war by Russia against Ukraine and the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch followed by a freshly emerging debate on the return of Kohinoor to India. Indeed, many of us are incredibly privileged and often tend to ignore these issues. However, true global citizen always uses their privilege to invoke change in society. Change is never easy, but always possible. As a student, it is our responsibility to work towards change, a change that our planet deserves, a change that our fellow beings deserve, and a change that our future generations deserve. Model United Nations Conference is an incentive for students to think like a diplomat and global citizens and work for change to create this world a paradise. It is with this thought that we welcome you to ऊMUNg 2022. InternWare is excited and hard at work preparing to create this incredible experience for all delegates, and we look forward to seeing you all there!
